FLOORS
Cornhusker Girls State is divided into towns. Each town is named after a United States President. There are 12 towns at Girls State.

Girls State citizens are not allowed to leave their designated floor between 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. for any reason including to campaign. It is important that your counselors know where you are. In the event of weather or other emergency during those times, counselors must account for all citizens.

ROOMMATES
You will be sharing a room with a citizen selected at random. Be aware that your roommate assignment may change. Please respect your roommate and her property, as you want yours to be respected.

VISITORS
Because Girls State citizens have organized activities throughout the days and evenings with very little free time, having visitors is discouraged. However, if your parent/guardian or other family members wish to visit, they must check in with the Girls State Store or Girls State Office. No visitors are allowed beyond the first floor lobby. For health and safety reasons, visitors are not permitted to bring in food.

EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
When Girls State is not in session learning about government, you will have an opportunity to participate in one of the following activities: Journalism, Girls and Boys State Choir, Girls and Boys State Band, Points of Interest Tours of the University of Nebraska campus, and Service Learning Projects. Everyone MUST choose an activity prior to arriving at Girls State.

GIRLS STATE STORE
The Girls State Store is located in the lobby on the first floor of Pound Residence Hall. The store offers items specific to Cornhusker Girls State. Items available at the store include t-shirts, sweatshirts, bags, keychains, and other Girls State memorabilia. The cost of these items range from $5 to $20. The store also has a variety of soda, bottled water, and snacks. The store accepts personal checks.

GRADUATION
Girls State graduation will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2008 beginning at 9:00 a.m. at Kimball Recital Hall, 12th and R Streets on the University of Nebraska campus. During the graduation ceremonies diplomas and pins will be presented and a report given on bills passed in the Girls State Legislature.

Parents and friends are invited to attend the graduation ceremonies; however, seating is limited. Guests will be admitted into Kimball Recital Hall on a first-come basis.

GIRLS STATE FAREWELL

Girls State officially ends following graduation. We ask that parents, family and friends wait outside Pound Hall after graduation so that all the girls and Girls State staff can go directly to their floors to begin the checkout procedures. Citizens must check out with their counselors. Keys must be returned before leaving Girls State. A University fee of $30 will be charged for any lost key. All citizens must be checked out by 2:00 p.m.

We expect that citizens will return home in the same manner in which they arrived. If your parents brought you, we expect your parents to take you home. If you will be returning home with someone else, your parents/guardians must provide written permission. If you ride the bus to get to Girls State, but you go home a different way, please notify the person who arranged the bus transportation so he/she can tell the bus driver.
